The Journal of Accounting Research is not just for accountants, auditors, actuaries and so on; it has a much broader appeal. The journal accepts articles which are accounts of original research that are empirical, analytical, experimental, and even publishes field studies. There are articles in the archives on corporate taxation and general finance, investments, law, capital markets and economics.
The Journal of Accounting Research is highly regarded in its field and is one of the oldest accounting journals in the world. Originally this journal was published by the Accounting Research Centre (1963-2001), although now it is published by the Accounting Research Centre in association with the publishers, Wiley-Blackwell.

If you subscribe to the journal you will receive five publications per year. There are four issues per annum and in addition, a conference issue. The latter publication focuses on the papers presented at the accounting research conference. The annual conference takes place at the University of Chicago.
In 2017 the journal received 489 submissions for all its publications and of these, 16 percent of the new submissions were rejected almost immediately, they were not peer-reviewed. In fact, in 2017 only 9 percent of submissions made it into the journal. Competition for space in the journal is fierce.
Currently the journal is calling for papers for the 2018 conference. Papers can be submitted on any topic related to auditing. If you would like to submit a paper for review, note that all working papers should be received before the 13th July 2018. The conference will be held on the 4th and 5th of October in Washington DC, but delegates will be invited. The conference will not be open to all. However, those people who are invited to attend do so for free.
Topics for papers include, but are not limited to: -
