An Anthology Of Poems English Literature Essay

The expression "love" is a verb; however "love" can't be described in a one lined, phrase or phrased explanation. Love is the cosmetic sense that expresses passion, honesty and etc. Love is also symbolized in different ways - a bouquet of bouquets, the amount of time spent between each other and much more. In the Modern Population, love is often expressed with communicated words orally. However love may also be moved from one's pounding heart and soul to another's by a communication of Writing or in other words also known as Poetry. I will therefore for my Poetry Anthology Task have my thematic link by as poems that express love.

My seek out poems that express love had not been exactly full of problems or epiphanies, instead in my perspective I did so the search of the poems dexterously and was eventually successful for finding my poems. There was only one minimal problem that I had came across when searching my poems. This predicament was that during the starting of my search I maintained looking for poems that indicated love just as a powerful romance, un- realizing the actual fact that my entire theme was Love so; I possibly could have also chosen lack of love or unrequited love. So, noticing this at a later level I was unable to find good poems at the beginning however, I was able to make this up as i realized that fact at a later stage. Other challenges didn't give me a problem- for example writing a Commentary and three Personal Reflections within the term limit was a fairly easy job to do. GENERALLY my seek out the poems was successful aside from the trivial problem which i had came across.

This experience has helped me to widen my understanding and knowledge for Poem's generally. Before carrying out this Assignment, I recognized what Poems were but I did not learn how to analyze the themes or templates based on their literary devices, and then use the analyzed information into Commentaries. I also did not know that there is something called a " Commentary" that shared almost the same structure as a Formal 5 Paragraph Article. This assignment in addition has given me the durability to investigate poems and quickly know very well what Poets such as Edgar Allan Poe have concealed and compressed using their Poem's information, themes, and literary devices. It offers clearly evolved my explanation of Love as well, by seeing how Poets represent Love in a variety of various ways throughout the Poem, I now know more about Love and Poetry.

The compiling of the anthology had moments of despair, annoyance, and disappointment and as well as delight, understanding, and exhilaration. I've believed fluctuating results in my own thoughts and moods every once in awhile when i was doing the project. I really like this assignment because of all ways I have benefited from it. Even though it fluctuated my feelings, the gain of knowledge is incomparable with my ambiance so, therefore I love this project.

"Heart! We will ignore him" By Emily Dickinson

Heart! We will neglect him!

You and I-tonight!

You may forget the warmness he gave-

I will your investment light!

When you have done, pray inform me

That I might straight begin!

Haste! lest as long as you're lagging

I bear in mind him!

Personal Reaction to " Heart! We Will Forget Him" by Emily Dickinson

I select "Heart! We Will Forget Him" by Emily Dickinson due to its simpleness and childish- liked poem that's not so hard to analyze and understand. The poet, Emily Dickinson will keep the poem reasonably very simple without any as such concealed use of vocabulary and creativeness that is hard to understand. This poem talks to me because I myself professionally have experienced lots of the experiences of what as well Emily Dickinson is trying to represent in her poem. For instance, I always want to ignore someone once and for all and never want any thoughts for these people even if it was someone that I put used to love passionately like my mother, I always want to instruct my heart and soul to just do what I believe I wish to abruptly with everything. Similarly, Emily Dickinson would like to represent the fact of unrequited love and seeking desperately to forget a lover by in every stanza talking about "Heart. . " Emily Dickinson signifies a poem about "lost love" and exactly how one will try to ignore another loved one by instructing the center instantly.

Love and Companionship by Emily Jane Bronte *

Love is similar to the outrageous rose-briar,

Friendship like the holly-tree-

The holly is dark when the rose-briar blooms

But that will bloom most constantly?

The wild rose-briar is nice in springtime,

Its summer blossoms scent the environment;

Yet hold out till winter comes again

And who'll call the wild-briar rational?

Then scorn the silly rose-wreath now

And deck thee with the holly's sheen,

That when December blights thy brow

He still may leave thy garland green.

Personal Reaction to "Love and Camaraderie" by Emily Bronte

I selected "Love and Friendship" by Emily Jane Bronte because of Bronte's interesting belief to hook up both Love and Camaraderie, similar but distinctive ideas mutually. Bronte, in her poem is wanting to state about everything that a good friend would do to someone that cares and exactly how friendship does work by summarizing its explanation into her poem and that when someone would be in trouble, terrified or by itself there would be always like the Good friend from where one can have the love and comfort. Emily Bronte's poem also is trying to state that the love of a person can be simply absent, but only the love of a genuine real friend will usually stay. This poem talks to me because I've always had the same belief of what Emily Bronte is trying to make in her poem as well. I have always believed that a friend is someone who helps rather than someone who speaks, chats and has lunch along but eventually doesn't help you out at the end. The moral and theme of this poem is plainly in depth referred to as in her subject, Emily Bronte very obviously says out her reality without compressing it in her poem and giving no clue of what the poem is about at the title.

"What makes you beautiful" by One Way *

You're insecure

Don't know very well what for

You're turning heads when you walk through the door

Don't need make up

To cover up

Being the way that you are is enough

Everyone else in the room can see it

Everyone else but you

Baby you light my world like nobody else

The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed

But when you smile at the bottom it aint hard to tell

You don't know

Oh Oh

You don't know you're beautiful

If only you saw what I could see

You'll understand why I want you so desperately

Right now I'm looking at you and I can't believe

You don't know

Oh oh

You don't know you're beautiful

Oh oh

That what makes you beautiful

So c-come on

You got it wrong

To prove I'm right I put it in a song

I have no idea why

You're being shy

And flip away once i consider your eyes

Everyone else in the area can see it

Everyone else but you

Personal Respond to " What Makes You Beautiful" by One Route Lyrics of a Song

I decided to go with "What Makes You Beautiful" by One Course. One way is a musical group of group of men and women who developed the song "WHY IS You Beautiful ". I decided to go with this song because it is an excellent song that relates to my theme. The tune is about caring a woman doesn't need any special things such as make-up or false beauty on her behalf body it is instead all about what she has in the within and that you look already beautiful and do not need to change in the way that you want to be. This lyric for the tune speaks to me because in my perspective I think and assess a person really by his/ her interior and what the guts really is rather than whether or one is an excellent looking person at the exterior. "One route" creates the perfect love song that mentions a genuine factor of love within their poem.

"A Dream IN A Goal" By Edgar Allan Poe*

Take this kiss after the brow!

And, in parting from you now,

Thus much i want to avow-

You are not wrong, who deem

That my times have been a fantasy;

Yet if desire has flown away

In a night, or per day,

In a vision, or in nothing,

Is it which means less removed?

All that people see or seem

Is but a aspiration within a fantasy.

I stand amid the roar

Of a surf-tormented shore,

And I hold within my hand

Grains of the fantastic sand-

How few! yet how they creep

Through my hands to the deep,

While I weep- while I weep!

O God! can I not grasp

Them with a tighter clasp?

O God! may i not save

One from the pitiless wave?

Is all that people see or seem

But a dream within a wish?

A Poetry Commentary on "A Desire IN JUST A Dream"

By: Edgar Allen Poe

"A Dream IN A Goal "by Edgar Allen Poe is a poem about the loss of love, the heartbreaking sadness that you faces and the ephemeral nature of the time and fleeting of lifestyle. The poem is well known anticipated to Poe's various poetic techniques that contain been used to stand for the excruciating context that Poe expresses in his poem. The main theme of the poem is the loss or lack of love that certain faces. Poe reveals a poem that dramatizes dilemma in viewing the considerations that slips away in life in two disparate views, he reveals how his cherished one vanishes from his life yet he also realizes that he cannot hold onto even one grain of fine sand. Poe's use of concealed tone, composition, imagery, alliteration and other various poetic literary techniques and devices portrays his conception for having less love that he faces.

One can simply observe that Poe composed this Poem after he has lost someone of his love ; Poe writes the poem as a reflection to his misery on the unpleasant event, which means poem supports his misery for the increased loss of love, burden and as well the hopelessness and lament towards life. Poe runs on the very depressing firmness in his poem expressing his love for his loved one in the poem; Poe creates two stanzas that are disparate but however finally associated. Poe makes both the stanzas summarize that life slips from us such as a long lost enthusiast or also a fistful of "golden fine sand "creeping through fingertips. Little by little life slips away like sand, Here Poe uses the conception of the hourglass. Poe is secretly looking to reveal by both stanzas that life is precious but sometimes loss of life can come just like a wave from a search tormented shoreline and take your loved one away. Poe makes the structure of the poem regular and typical to closing in mere couplets or triplets nevertheless the theme of "lack of love" is often routinely rephrased for some reason in each of the stanza's. Throughout the Poem, Poe also exclaims with sorrow and angers many rhetorical questions that are mainly asked to only utter his importance and outburst alternatively than an answer. A good example of his exclaimed rhetorical questions would be when within the last stanza Poe makes all the last lines expressed in questions rather than answers.

In the First Stanza, Poe starts the Poem with a formal good bye to his cherished one (brand 1 and 2) "Take this kiss after the brow! And, in parting from you know" both of these lines share Poe's love and anguish as he loses his loved one. Poe also gives the audience the image of an kiss on the brow and a parting which indirectly means that he and his cherished one are parting ways in the very beginning of the poem. This event that Poe uses the image of could symbolize that it is the end of any romantic relationship, time or even life. It is putative how Poe's cherished one remarks that life is only a dream, now that Poe accedes that fact as his cherished one has been extinct from his life, Poe therefore mentions "Yet if wish has flown away. The less gone? (Lines 6 and 9) put across Poe's hopelessness when it comes to pray. Poe also repeated the term "in" 2 times in two lines (lines 7 and 8) to emphasize how expectation is fragile and can be destroyed abruptly at at any time that no-one understands. Poe concludes the first stanza by talking about that "All what we should see or seem to be. . a fantasy within a goal ". Here, Poe uses alliteration within the terms "see" and "seem" to delineate the audience the fact that nothing that one see's, feel's or even notices is any longer real when compared to a dream.

In the next Stanza, Poe uses a disparate environment to express the situation " loss of love" ; the excruciating framework in the Poem. Poe presents the audience to his lack of love or impotence in other words through the imagery of himself grasping grains of " golden sand" that "creep". This image that Poe represents in his Poem is a significant idea in Poe's Poem scheduled to it being ultimately Poe's central discussion that Poe appears to keep on rephrasing on each of his stanzas In the poem. First, Poe's image of "golden fine sand " falling delineates the readers of one hour glass which in turn symbolizes time passing by. The narrator, Poe grabs sand that trickles between his finger, which then reminds him of the meaninglessness of life, and that there is nothing more real than a dream. The third piece of imagery that Poe presents the audience to is the powerful image of the "surf - tormented shore "and put's himself standing on the list of roars of waves. By inserting himself on the list of tormented roars of waves, Poe creates a metaphor that can be used to express Poe's torments from the increased loss of his cherished one, and how the waves and roars are running him and at the same time drowning in his own misery. The poem proceeds and is actually all about the narrator's struggles and pain that he seems for his loved one. All of these metaphors have meanings near the ephemeral nature of time, that leads Poe to the final outcome that life almost seems to have no meaning no purpose with the lack of love, as life goes by by so fast. The sand and the surf tormented shoreline or waves are a good example that Poe uses to symbolize poor and progressive decay of life and love. The waves keep striking the shore, until little by little the shoreline gets depleted by the everlasting waves. All of these symbols lead back again to these images which also ultimately lead back again to Poe's theme of " Could it be which means less ended up? and having less love any particular one faces. " While I weep- while I weep!" (Range 7). Here, Poe provides reader the notice that how his weep as his misery overwhelms his defenses, as he aches for the loss of his love. As Poe explains his misery, weep and pain he implores God for help. Poe stresses his pain as Poe wishes to save one that has already passed away by putting a metaphor of " saving one from the pitiless influx", Poe consistently uses the key phrase " O God " expressing his emotions and thoughts towards his loved one. Then to conclude, and complete with the theme Poe uses two questions by the end of his poem "Could it be all we see. A wish inside a dream", to rephrase once again that everything was a aspiration and that of the ephemeral characteristics of time no one can surmount life and that everything will be simply only a dream.

In Conclusion, " A Dream Within A Goal " by Edgar Allen Poe, is a poem that has use of many poetic techniques and ways to express this excruciating idea where reduction, love, anger and the ephemeral mother nature of your time all take place is overall quite effective as Poe handles to do so in that short poem with only two stanzas. The poem exhibits some very important areas of life such as loss of life, the ephemeral dynamics of their time and hope sometimes as well within the theme of "lack of love" and just one single who manages to lose their love. Not surprisingly poem, " A Desire Within A Goal" it's still remembered by myself how Poe's belief that everything all around us now is just a goal and nothing's as real as we realize it.

O! wish to me is but a season -

Seldom will it really overstay,

And tho' I pain to seek grounds,

Like the wish, it fades away

To leave me once more in awe

Of the way the heart can render raw

In loss of love; but then to soar

Atop anew! - and hail adieu!

To her who fled from chance I gave

To see us wed: Then on,

To court docket another fairer face -

And lose again in end of chase!

I curse the times of year evermore -

They tease me thro' their metaphor:

Starting fresh, their vigour young,

Yet oversoon, the ditty sung.

"Annabel Lee" By Edgar Allan Poe *

It was many and many this past year,

In a kingdom by the ocean,

That a maiden there resided whom you might know

By the name of ANNABEL LEE;

And this maiden she resided with no other thought

Than to love and become cherished by me.

I was a child and she was a child,

In this kingdom by the sea;

But we cherished with a love that was more than love-

I and my Annabel Lee;

With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven

Coveted her and me.

And this is the reason that, way back when,

In this kingdom by the sea,

A wind blew out of an cloud, chilling

My beautiful Annabel Lee;

So that her highborn kinsman came

And bore her from me,

To shut her up in a sepulchre

In this kingdom by the ocean.

The angels, not half so happy in heaven,

Went envying her and me-

Yes!- that was the reason why (as all men know,

In this kingdom by the sea)

That the wind flow came out of the cloud by night time,

Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.

But our love it was stronger definitely than the love

Of those who have been older than we-

Of many far wiser than we-

And neither the angels in heaven above,

Nor the demons right here the ocean,

Can ever dissever my heart from the soul

Of the stunning Annabel Lee.

For the moon never beams without providing me dreams

Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;

And the personalities never surge but Personally i think the glowing eyes

Of the stunning Annabel Lee;

And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side

Of my darling- my darling- my entire life and my bride,

In the sepulchre there by the sea,

In her tomb by the sounding sea.

"That I did so always love" by Emily Dickinson*

That I did always love

I bring thee Proof

That till I loved

I never lived-Enough-

That I shall love alway-

I dispute thee

That love is life-

And life hath Immortality-

This-dost thou doubt-Sweet-

Then have I

Nothing to show

But Calvary-
