Introduction to Leadership

Leadership is a very important interpersonal behavior that a managerial position employee or employer should have. What is leadership anyway? This is of leadership is:

"Control is an activity whereby an individual influences a group of individuals to attain a common goal. "

Northouse (2007, p3)

There are four main factors in control that will greatly affect the grade of an individual to be a leader:

As a leader, he must be able to gain the trust from the fans, as no one else will determine whether the leader is successful or not. To be able to gain trust from them, the leader will need to have a good understanding on who he's, what he know and what they can do. If he failed to be genuine to himself, the enthusiasts will lack of confidence on him and remaining uninspired.

For a successful leader, he must do his work and know the nature of his every single follower. Using this method, he will have the ability to have a good understanding of the followers' aspect, needs, feelings and drive, as the enthusiasts play an important role to getting the job done.

Always lead through two-way communication. Responses will be useful when collecting data and information needed for making decisions. Besides, while obtaining feedback or recommendations from the followers, the leader can really know what the followers needs and problem. At exactly the same time, additionally it is consider an act of regarding the welfare of the supporters.

Every situation a leader had confronted before might be different with another. Therefore, whenever a new situation happens, a head must observe carefully and use his common sense to decide the simplest way of solving the problem or else the situation will be still existing and triggering more problems.

Question A

According to Weber (1947), "charisma is referred to as a certain quality of a person personality, by virtue of which s/he is defined apart from the normal people and cared for as endowed with supernatural, superhuman, or at least specifically, exceptional electricity or qualities. They are such as are not accessible to the normal person, but are thought to be of divine origin or as exemplary, and on the basis of them the individual concerned is cured as a innovator. " Such market leaders have a very wonderful, persuasive personality about them, whom are skilled at conversing with others and can be very convincing at times.

Many market leaders are seemed on as blessed naturally with charisma, but it does not mean it cannot be attained. Charisma is often considered as to be always a trait, an internal figure which is acquired. However, charisma can be an exception, as it is inborn in everyone but at different amounts. But this will not mean the level of inborn charisma is static throughout our life-time. Developing other personas such as communication and public skills may further improve one's charisma levels. Charisma also will depend on people belief. A person is merely charismatic if people feel they're charismatic. So, charisma can be had.

Charisma is not a mandatory need to be a highly effective leader. Many world leaders today do not have got a lot of charisma, however, remain as leaders of their nations. Other factors such as imagination and innovation can drive a leader towards efficiency. Trust is another factor that may be forged between a innovator and follower which brings about a far more effective leadership, with the lack of any charisma. Charisma can be viewed as as yet another boost however, not a requirement to become an effective head as they could have other command features. Even without charisma, you can still be a highly effective leader.

Question B

Charismatic command is different then transformational authority. Both of the control have some other concept from each other.

Charismatic leadership can be explained as people with a great self-assurance in themselves, getting a clear vision of these actions and most importantly, they may have their own specific attraction, personality or impact over the society. Charismatic leaders are able to know the needs of the supporters. Therefore they can create a eyesight that will allow everyone to know future will be advanced (Awan, 2010). Martin Luther King, Jr. is an excellent exemplory case of a charismatic head. He is able to include a eye-sight of shade blind culture within the People in america' value. He encouraged the Americans to simply accept Afro-Americans in the united states and give equal treatment to them.

On the other hands, transformational management is a management that helps subordinates to boost themselves and create a better vision on their behalf in order to become a head as well. Transformational leaders concentrate more on motivations, inspirations and encouragements. Besides that, they have good communication skills which permit them to make good marriage with others (Kurnik, 2010). In addition they appreciate their subordinates' initiatives, ideas and contributions so that they will work harder. One good example of a transformational head is Abraham Lincoln. He's one of the biggest presidents of The United States. He had a perspective for the country, which is develop the country into an effective country. Sometimes he went to his prominent line's troops to encourage and inspire them in order that they do not lose their soul.

Transformational leadership and transactional control are both different kinds of control. In transformational control, subordinates are expected to achieve higher than their original goals. However, in transactional management, subordinates are encouraged at a standard standard level. Transactional market leaders also relate rewards that are desired by subordinates with the goals and achievements. Besides that, transactional market leaders only provide necessary resources to their subordinates and clarify their objectives. They will only keep an eye on their subordinates from away but only engaged when the performance's standard is not found. Other than that, transformational leaders centered on the ends while transactional leaders negotiated within the means (Sir MacGregor Melts away, 1978), this means transactional leaders concentrate on the complete process while transformational only focus on the accomplishments or results.

Question C

Culture is quickly referred to as the group norms, values and values that makes an organizational unique and also, identifies its characteristics of business. Organizational culture, referred as commercial culture in some organization is the machine consisting of shared activities, formal rituals, methods and protocol, values that develops in the business to do something as guidance how the associates should react.

Strong culture identifies an organization that has a deeply distributed value system and the norms and beliefs are accompanied by the members unfailingly. As a result, it contributes to more impressive range of business performance. Being able to understand each other, they are able to synchronize, enhancing their efficiency and performance without losing the organization's time and resources. In addition to that, a stable sociable system is developed and the necessity for bureaucratic handles is reduced.

Organizational culture would also impede the business enterprise progress of an organization, as Fons Trompenaars [1] mentioned that culture is the "manner in which a group of people solves problems". Thus, alternatives to solve the issues and how may vary as the ethnicities vary in different organizations. Rather, they might agree on other people's idea but their own.

As stated by Bruce M. Tharp, there are four types of organizational civilizations that impede business improvement. They contain control, compete, collaborate, and create.

Firstly, control or hierarchy culture is the guidelines and types of procedures that guide the customers to execute their jobs and control their tendencies. Strong culture would impede business improvement, because members wouldn't normally respond to any changes in the organization as they designed to the distributed value system. For example, members of the organization are always given more time to get ready for incoming projects however the new guideline (change) enforced state governments that the excess time is pointless and customers have to get started on the projects as soon as they obtain them.

Next is compete, in any other case referred to as market culture. Fierce competition from other organizations is also another factor, rendering it harder for the organization to accomplish its goal and success on the market. The organization has to be both successful and effective to provide a strong competition. However, strong culture impedes faster learning and improvement to the business which could result in losing the business enterprise to challengers.

Moving on to collaborate, also known as clan culture is to spell it out the organization as a whole team. By coming alongside one another as a team to handle problems, problems can be fixed quickly. However, this might impede business improvement by getting the same point of views. There are no second or third views involved as the members would have the similar frame of mind and thought process. Therefore, the people would agree on the decision without thinking much from a different point of view or comparing ideas.

One of the last culture that impede business progress is create/adhocracy culture. Being adaptable and innovative is also important in assuring the organization's and business success, as well to be before others. Imagination is also a part of the adhocracy culture. However, the strong culture of posting the same beliefs and values would prove problematic for members to create fresh and progressive ideas. In addition to strong culture, people of the business cannot modify and troubleshoot complicated problems. In the long run, strong culture impedes the progression of business.

Leadership is an essential value for managerial person, no matter in which area the person in. Therefore, one should do his best on preparing a good example to the supporters and trust their ability to complete their work, therefore the followers will be motivated and always give their finest towards the first choice or the business. Even though that theory can understand and memorize easily, one must still put some work on practicing on it as it cannot be obtained easily such as a technological skills.

Furthermore, when a person has authority sits within himself, the supporters will believe that and respect the decision made by the first choice, and thus perform the task effectively and effectively. To conclude, the organization will be profit and the employees will do their best all the time.
