Developing TOP QUALITY Multimedia Products

Introduction:

The increasing development of computer research including the web site design in parallel to the huge revelation of mass media has resulted to an increase in media content at the ultimate product offered to an individual (Martin & Lynch, 2003). From this statement, we can immediately see the important role the media is playing inside our lives.

We can scarcely find a company product or a specialized application that will not contain a multimedia content at an individual software level, in this newspaper we will be proclaiming the best procedure and strategy for Creating a high quality media product with successful user interface.

This methodology contains including some important phases in the development process such as : Quality confidence, risk management and validation and verification, in order to get a maximum quality product ( sherwood & Rout, 1998 ) and a content that's not noisy. Furthermore, to reach this objective, programmers are appreciated to consider the Human being Computer Interaction self-discipline, in order to get interactive personal computers for real human use (Hewett et al, (n. d. )). Regarding the evaluation of the ultimate product, the multimedia interface must be assessed on its usability and its purity, simplicity and beauty (Martin, Bolissian & pimenidis, 2003).

To recapitulate what we've said above, media industry is facing many problems, such as " Noise ", programmers are obliged to follow the a strategy and take in a serious factor the individual computer interaction self-control to be able to beat the insect of " Loud media product ".

Multimedia

The first question one may ask whenever we talk about media is, What is Multimedia ? Multimedia system is, In a nutshell, the utilization of different form of press put together in one seamlessly combined framework. However, the definition of this term is a problematic issue among scientists; the artists view it as a means of expression, a way of transmitting the information to the others. Whereas technologists have defined the term " multimedia " as a group of means that let the mass media to be obtained, displayed, delivered and displayed. ( Mckerrow, 2005 ). Multimedia system has become a big essential part of our daily lives, as almost all types of information we exchange are classified under multimedia from music to Television to presentations to publications to internet sites. Multimedia development has been in permanent growth, this important field in the info technology incorporates expertise and knowledge from software anatomist, business environment and the multi-media interface; Quite simply, multimedia is mixed up in fields of pcs, marketing communications and the mass media. Having defined multimedia system, why don't we now talk about a key factor in creating high quality multimedia system products.

Human Computer Connection ( HCI )

Human Computer Discussion can be defined as the science concerned with the " plan and design ", analysis and execution of personal computers that have interface (Hewett et al, (n. d. )). The multi-media interface has an essential role in deciding if the multi-media content has been successful or not, because if the user interface is usable and graceful the multimedia program will be reaching a major part of its objectives, such to be noiseless.

Evaluation of multimedia products

As multimedia is a huge domain and it is involved with all domains, the evaluation of media applications has never been an easy task, there are different aspects to check out when measuring the success of any multi-media application, for example, the designer must look to the business aspect and see whether his product continues to be demanded by customers, and will his product still meet all certain requirements. In the visible design or sites, success is under the leanness theory (Martin, Bolissian & pimenidis, 2003).

The analysis of multi-media product is hard and needs a structured framework, one should follow the approaching platform to get his product well examined:

- Will the project accomplish the task was suitable for ?

- May be the user happy with it ?

- Is the application reliable ?

- Is the software complete ?

- Can an individual interact with the application form in the best manner ?

- Can the system respond to any sudden changes ?

- Will be the users served with only the precise requested information ?

- Can the machine react to all the stakeholders requirements (Martin, Bolissian

& pimenidis, 2003).

Another important idea in the analysis of a multimedia product is the term " Quality Of Service " ( QOS ). With the " Quality Of Service " we can assess how high quality is the multimedia application. Relating to Vogel et al ( 1994 ) Quality of service is those variables of a multimedia system application that effect the demonstration of this content of the multi-media system to the user. In short, Quality of service is the customer's satisfaction with the multi-media product.

To sum up, The evaluation of the multi-media application and the grade of service, which shows the users satisfaction with the product, are very very important to the developers to create a superior quality multi-media systems.

Noise

Noise is the first adversary of multimedia products providers, as it's very hard to control which is unexpected problem. To make sure that our multimedia application is not loud or to get a superior quality product we, as designers, have to follow a structured methodology for multimedia systems development. Before we get into this methodology, why don't we see what noises is, and what existing solutions are to have noiseless multi-media content.

In general, noise is known in the electronic and telecommunication field, when transmitting some data in a telecommunication system using a wire, we call any lack of data that may occur, Noise. The piece of information to be sent is ciphered and then delivered to its destination ( the user for example ) when it's received the info is deciphered and then read, any difference between the source meaning and the resulted subject matter is because of the data damage and it is called " Noise ". To make sure that the data received is the same as the initial one, computer programmers have added some rules that detect and correct errors to the initial communication (Martin & Lynch, 2003). This solution appears to be effective and successful as it continues to be being utilized by telecommunication peoples and networking programmers.

But what about Noise in multimedia system ? ? ? which is more difficult to eliminate.

In multimedia information systems and multi-media product, Noise can be explained as any inappropriate little bit of information or content that is received by the user in regards to to the content, composition of display, time of screen, reliability and in efficiency and navigation. Fundamentally, Noise occurs when the usability guidelines are not taken in account (Martin & Lynch, 2003).

Having defined noise, now, developers have to have a scale so that they can know at what magnitude their products are noisy or are noiseless, Martin & Lynch, ( 2003) did it for us, Here is the recapitulation with their nice work :

At first, multi-media is involved with a wide context. To well examine multimedia product we have to consider user's view, nor be satisfied only by the view of aesthetic designers and real human computer relationship (HCI) designers. To know how loud your multimedia system is, you got to know the profile and certain requirements of all the stakeholders. The machine should stick to the usability guidelines required by the stakeholders in term of meeting the objectives the machine was designed for, with awareness to the processing infrastructure and the location where the media system is working.

The platform for evaluating Noises in multimedia product:

Stakeholders : will the system supply the users with only the needed

information ?

Visual design : is an individual user interface nice?

Usabilty : is the multi-media system simple to use ?

Information : is the data given correct ? could it be on time ? could it be the needed

information ?

Fit with computing devices : do the computing infrastructures give the

results needed with the needed details ?

Location : do the infrastructures of the system work in all the places.

The need for a methodology

to avoid " Noises " in multimedia products Multimedia system industry is growing more rapidly than expected, high quality product and the gain of the user's satisfaction has become now a excellent consideration. To attain those objectives, creators must create noiseless multimedia system systems. Before, the condition was in the method of development and in the form of thinking of creators and designers, as they used to turn to what's being developed rather than seeking to how has been developed ( sherwood & Rout, 1998 ). Lately, Multimedia makers have defined a strategy for the development of the multi-media products which contributes to a Pure and Simple interface that are " noiseless ". Programmers can reap the benefits of implementing this well defined methodology and a strenuous methodology many advantages such as : - the quality of the merchandise will be improved upon, and - the staff will be led and recognized by web templates and exemplars ( sherwood & Rout, 1998 ).

Brief explanation of the strategy :

The structured procedure explained above, can be a benchmark which will help in the increase of the productivity and the grade of the multi-media product ( sherwood & Rout, 1998 ).

This technique brings some innovating ideas and tools. It brings new types of practice and it offers the staff of any multimedia project with templates and models which can be used to make a high quality multimedia products.

This technique, as Sherwood & Rout ( 1998 ), have stated, includes six phases of multimedia development:

  • Initiation : during this phase the overall planning is performed.
  • Specifications : during this period they test the feasibility and the usability of the Task.
  • Design : in this period the stakeholders are identified, and way to perspective problems are located.
  • Production : during this phase the final product will be finalizing.
  • Review and Evaluation : in this phase a critical examination of the ultimate product is performed.
  • Delivery and Implementation. during this phase your client is introduced to accept and sign the arrangement to finalize the merchandise.

The electric power and the strength of this technique is the incorporation of the product quality guarantee throughout all the development phases, which really is a new way and incredibly efficient one to get a noiseless product.

Each period of the previous ones, is divided into three main activities:

- Development

- Management : package with legalities and risk management

- Support : quality assurance, validation and confirmation.

Further Issues :

Well evaluate the multimedia product and well design it following a structured strategy, is the answer to create noiseless media products. This is what we have given to the viewers through this paper. But the challenge with this solution is it is merely a theoretical process where the successful result does not follow in every circumstances. Because in the practical world nothing is perfect, insects and errors have always been around. So in multimedia world also there is nothing perfect ( noiseless ).

I claim that rather than striving to build up noiseless multimedia products, programmers should try creating applications in which noise is minimized. It is best for both consumer and the maker.

Conclusion :

The multimedia product has been developing without cease within the last years due to the big need for this field in the information technology. To obtain better media systems, developers have to create carefully by including in this technique many important details. The most important factor in creating not noisy multimedia product is to check out the structured strategy mentioned above. Furthermore, suppliers or developers should think in the program of the Individual Computer Conversation and workout to build up a usable user interface and aesthetic program. For me, I see that if the usability guidelines are adhered, the programmers will have a big step to reach their goal to set-up " Noiseless " multimedia system application. But as we know multimedia is a huge domain and the main problem that programmers are facing is : An ideal noiseless multi-media product can be developed only theoretically, such as the practical world we, always have some unwanted and unforeseen errors and insects that make the system noisy.

Now, it's we who ask this question : " can we perform such applications in the true expression ? ? ? ".
