Identify Management Ideas Relevant to Your Role

Keywords: nursing management theories, medical management reflection

According to Ennis a crucial thinker is open-minded and mindful of alternatives; attempts to be well-informed; judges well the trustworthiness of sources; identifies conclusions, reasons, and assumptions; judges well the grade of an argument, including the acceptability of its reasons, assumptions, and proof; can well develop and protect an acceptable position; asks appropriate clarifying questions; formulates plausible hypotheses and strategies experiments well; defines terms in ways befitting the context; draws conclusions when warranted, but with extreme care; and combines all items in this list when deciding what to imagine or do. He also state that critical thinkers are liable to care that their perception be true and this their decisions be justified, good care to present a position honestly and plainly and value the dignity and worthy of of every person.

Critical Thinking is a common component of organisation mission affirmation and outcome evaluation. Alexander Court Good care Centre "quest is to provide the best possible care for our Service Users by developing in the Care and attention Centre an atmosphere of individual care and attention and attention that will contribute to Service Users' security, well-being and comfort in a way that they are empowered to enjoy life with their fullest probable. " (ACCC Quality Manual Issue 1 2006). To effectively supply the best quality care and attention to your client, skills and strategies of the director is important to achieve the goal. Critical thinking is involved in insuring the health and safety of all the personnel, clients, family and site visitors in the company.

Critical thinking is important in medical care adjustments like for instance, per day - to - day duties of a manager like going for a lot of data or information to modify knowledge for problem clarification and solution which involves to make decisions. There exists one circumstance where in our Director received a issue from the family of a Service User about carelessness of the staff due to brief staffing. She considered many things in relation to her decision like the beliefs and belief of the organisation. Thorough research was done to resolve the situation. The Administrator called a gathering and paid attention to both side's views and reasons. In cases like this critical thinking is vital to establish if the information or analysis from both sides has been accurately gathered. Healthcare team needs critical thinking skills to completely investigate and reflect on all areas of observation or problem to be able to decide the required plan of action.

In the existing climate of brief staffing, cost cutting and high prospects for quality good care, skills in critical thinking is essential to act upon organisational and systems problems, because failure to do something on these problems may lead to poor quality good care, high automobile accident, poor clients satisfaction, claims from clients and their families and company's bad reputation or trustworthiness.

Managers in the organisation should have skilled in higher level of thinking and reasoning capabilities to package effectively with higher demands and higher accountability. Manager who can think critically are able to adapt easily to changing environment, and understand the assumed prices and logical functions that underlie the tasks and decisions that they make. They are really more equipped to produce and agree to change and innovation, which is more very important to today's organisation.

BE IN A POSITION TO CRITICALLY ASSESS OWN BELIEFS, Behaviour AND VALUE SYSTEMS.

In this section will clarify the difference between beliefs, attitudes and values which I echo to our company and determine critically the impact of these in my behavior. Beliefs, attitudes and principles are an important of our everyday lives. They have a tendency to form our thoughts, perceptions and thoughts about the environment around us.

Difference between values, attitudes and values.

As human beings, we have our very own set of values, attitudes and values being followed right away that picture who we live and how exactly we view the world. Being truly a manager, working with personnel and clients with different values, attitudes and ideals need to be aware and prepared to choose the professional values and not impose our own views on our personnel or client.

Beliefs are the assumptions we make ourselves, about others on earth and about how exactly we expect things to be. Individuals or Clients have their own personal beliefs that affect all facet of their daily lives such as just how they dress, it could be influenced by religious beliefs and public or social and traditions. Every person don't always agree with one another about different prices and idea, however, we have to think critically that is the way they raised by their ancestors, so we have to respect their values.

Attitudes will be the established means of responding to people and situations that we have learned, predicated on the beliefs, worth and assumptions we carry. Our attitude become manifest through our behavior. If we've good attitude about something, we typically have good results like at work in working with clients we ought to treat them as though they are us because I usually be aware that if my family is within their place. Alternatively, if we've negative attitude a lot of people all around us will complaint that will cause us never to feel great about ourselves.

Values are about how exactly we have learned to believe things should be or people must respond, especially in terms of characteristics such as integrity, integrity and openness. For us to have the ability to develop critical thinking, we should possess certain morale principles, ethical action and positive mental attitude towards our work or co-worker to be able to help to come up with a right decision and rational reasoning.

As an aspiring manager, it is good practice to think own attitudes, beliefs and prices and take it under consideration to make decision. To evaluate the various problems at work I will have an improved knowledge of basic reasoning and the process of critical thinking because they're essential in making good decision and building casual relationships. Like for illustration, in dealing with conflict between staff, I should consider the challenge by assessing and evaluating the professionals and negative aspects of the discord and in making decision I will critically think and arrived in a great decision that will not be bias to both factors. When argument between staff exists, I should deal with it calmly in an assertive and professional way.

1. 2 Critically determine the impact of values, attitudes and values on own behavior.

Reflection

According to Kolb's Learning Cycle, it isn't sufficient to have an experience in order to learn; it's important to think about experience, draw on our knowledge bottom and identify new ideas and principles, which may then be employed to new situations. He also stresses that, without reflection, we would simply continue steadily to repeat our errors.

Our beliefs increase from what we see, hear, experience, read and think about. From these things we develop an opinion that we keep to be true. From our beliefs we derive our principles, which can either be correct or incorrect in comparison to evidence, however hold true for us. Our beliefs and values may also be strengthened by experience or research. For example, one of our Clients needs blood vessels transfusion but her daughter who's a Jehovah Witness refused it, but her mother is between life and fatality. She said bloodstream transfusion is against their faith; however she needs to extend her mother's life. So she decided with the doctor and her mother recovered. It's possible for our values and values to vary overtime whenever we encounter such activities that task our previously performed views in life. Some people believe a magic from God; however others may have their belief in the fundamental goodness of humans especially if they have got an awful experience.

In the attention setting how you provide care and attention with the Service Customer reflects your own frame of mind, belief and worth. For example basic on my experience, I treat the Service End user as if they are really my children because the prices that I've learned from my upbringing and I really believe the saying "Treat others how you desire to be treated". The positive attitude and behavior that we have shown to others will come back to us positively, although we cannot please everybody. Sometimes despite of positive attitude, when working with colleague still you can find discord because of differences in notion and values that people have. With this experience it taught me that even if there is differences make an effort to solve it because interacting with this kind of situation immediately will create a positive result. Teamwork is important in the treatment setting.

Being a manager in the company, to work effectively it is advisable to understand own worth and beliefs and to understand the importance of not permitting them to affect just how working with staff. To be able to remain professional it is essential to leave personal values out of the client or staff relationship. This means that it's important to permit clients to make decisions predicated on their own beliefs and beliefs somewhat than decisions that indicate what you think they must do. Sometimes when we will work we hardly ever think about our behaviour and unacquainted with just how different our attitudes could be to others all around us.

BE ABLE TO CRITICALLY ASSESS THE VALIDITY OF MANAGEMENT THEORIES IN RELATION TO OWN BELIEFS, ATTITUDES AND Prices.

This second section discussed the management theory that contain been identified that is pertinent to my role, the impact of beliefs, attitudes and beliefs upon this theory and how someone with different beliefs, attitudes and principles may interpret this diversely. Management theories can shape the foundation of successful business and market leaders in any type of organisation can study from the proven management concepts. In designing a powerful organisation structure, beliefs and ideals of the company must be considered.

2. 1 Identify management ideas highly relevant to your role.

Behavioral management theory is often called the human relations movement because it addresses the individual sizing of work. Behavioral theorists assumed that a better understanding of individual behavior at work, such as motivation, conflict, objectives, and group dynamics, improved productivity. (Cliffs Notes)

In behavioural/ human being relation theory, administrator should build a protected climate where staff seems that their opinions, ideas and the work that they contribute is valued. Encourage personnel to reflect on their work and tendencies, it motivate these to be more profitable. Some managers have a tendency to keep their employees near to the vest, which limits their growth probable and the probable of the team as a whole. Instead of encouraging and aiding those to provide source where their skills will be appreciated. This creates morale and also induces new ways of idea copy and collaborative thinking. Plus, if your excellent staff are seen in a good light in the company, it reflects directly back the way you are as their supervisor.

Maslow's Hierarchy of needs theory helped managers visualize employee motivation. It remains valid today for understanding human drive, management training and personal development. Indeed, Maslow's ideas bordering the Hierarchy of Needs regarding the responsibility of employers to provide a place of work environment that induces and enables employees to fulfill their unique probable (personal actualization) are today more relevant ever.

Contingency Management Theory

The basic idea of Contingency Theory is that there is no one way to lead an company. There are too many external and inside constraints that will modify what actually the easiest way to lead is in confirmed situation. In other words, it all depends on the situation in front of you as to what would be the best plan of action.

Fred Fielder believed there was a direct relationship to the traits of a innovator and the potency of a leader. According to him, certain leadership features helped in a certain crisis so the leadership would need to change given the new set of circumstances. Fielder's Contingency theory proposes the 3 following concepts that says there exists no one fastest way to manage an organisation; leader must have the ability to identify which management style will help achieve the organisation's goals in a specific situation and minimal preferred co-worker (LPC) scale which measures a manager authority orientation.

As a Healthcare Associate the impact/relevance of the above theories in our role, due to motivation from the manager, it inspires us to be more productive and our personal and professional development increased. Additionally it is our possibility to have managers that efficiently and effectively package with issues and maintain a well balanced or improving degree of productivity. For example, our earlier and present administrator, our previous director was very lax in managing the health care home therefore the staff aren't motivated. As the present director always asked her staff what is the condition and offer information about the business, because communication is important within the health care environment. She provides phrase of encouragement or credit and shows genuine concern and value to her personnel.

2. 2 Critically determine the impact of own beliefs, attitudes and beliefs over a management theory highly relevant to your role.

In our various assignments, our beliefs, beliefs and behaviour are constantly interfacing with those others; our peers, friends, family and clients. We seem to unconsciously "like" those those who share our primary values and beliefs. It is clear that harmonizing our value systems is what makes a successful marriage, be it personal or professional.

Being a highly effective manager means being truly a good thinker. Good thinking is a mixture of critical and creative thinking skills and offers the right value and belief systems that in turn influence motivation, objective and proposal with a particular task. A good attitude is also needed to be motivated and employed in a task. To have the ability to do this job management theory is necessary to build the personnel more productive; however it does not simply teach managers inspire their employees to be more effective, it also shows them how to be good bosses. It is the key for them to learn how to package with issues and at the same time maintain a stable or improving level of productivity.

I assumed with the behavioural theorist that understanding human behavior at work like drive will improved production, like for illustration in our workplace, the staff was given a pay go up if the staff got a higher degree of performance, if the manager seen that her staff are having a potential, the company gave the chance to develop it for personal and professional expansion like further analysis or trainings because they believe that staff performance is the utmost influence in organisation's performance. If we check at the UK's best companies to improve, their give attention to company values and employee proposal is their highest agenda.

According to personal development company Western Leaders study only 36 percent did the trick to their full potential, and poor desire is the reason. Most want to provide more at work but too little communication between older management and the wider labor force leaves missing the desire to set up that extra effort. They could or would work much more effectively with better determination. (Evening Standard, 2011:59)

2. 3 Use the critical assessment to evaluate how someone with different beliefs, attitudes and beliefs might interpret the theory differently.

Cultural dissimilarities can be a large task for a director working to a multitude of staff with different beliefs, attitudes, prices, etc. A good smallest thing can be misinterpreted. As a manager dealing with different kinds of staff, most of them won't same thinking as you. The important thing once and for all thinking manager to realize that there surely is always ways to solve any and every problem.

An effective manager must take time to recognize and pay back his/her personnel for what they have done and offer encouragement to inspire employee, however some managers have different varieties of leadership, they never give even a simple expression of encouragement or credit and praise for his/her member of staff who have a great job. Showing an authentic concern and esteem for the staff might be the best strategy in getting goal of exceptional leadership.

Behavioural theory concentrate on how leaders behave. Leaders either determine what needs to be achieved or require the team in decision making to encourage, motivate and support their workers. There are different types of supervisor, some are making decision without talking to their teams and they don't take the time if their staff are content with their job, but they want an effective outcome from their employees. As I examine this, if you want a positive final result you should included your staff in making decision unless you don't have for their source, however if it based on the health and well being of the Service Users teamwork is important. Others are allowing the team to provide insight to make decision; however team arrangement is important since it is difficult to choose when there are lots of ideas. While other managers who are lazy, doesn't involved in decision making, they allow the team to make many of the decisions however this process can fail. It really is clear that leaders/managers behavior effects on their effectiveness. So, market leaders are those who can use different behavioral styles and use the right style for each situation.
