Project management synopsis

Project management means that project requirements are achieved by applying tools, techniques, skills, and knowledge to task activities (or tasks). The essential structure of job management is described by the project stakeholders, which are project sponsor, task team, suppliers, support staff, customers, and users. Other important areas of task management are task management tools and techniques, and task management knowledge areas - task integration, opportunity, time, cost, quality, human being reference, communication, procurement and risk management. However, of these knowledge areas the job integration management is most significant because it integrates all the areas of job management.

Although, job management primarily ensures that a project's requirements are satisfied by applying tools, technique, skills, and knowledge to project activities (responsibilities) to meet job requirements, it is also is a group of interrelated operations: initiating, planning, executing and monitoring. Of the three operations, the executing techniques require more time and resources, accompanied by the planning functions. A broader picture of the activities involved in task management sometimes appears in mapping the actions of the procedure group in to the [nine] job areas.

Since it is important for job management to meet task requirements [goals], and fulfill stakeholders, it is similarly critical for job managers to recognize, understand, and manage romantic relationships with all job stakeholders. Also for a job management to meet requirements, and gratify stakeholders, project will need to have a job plan. This job plan must establish and confirm job goals and objective, identify duties and exactly how goals are completed, quantify needed resources, determine task cost [budget] and project completion timelines. Apart from defining and confirming project goals, the task plan requires the management and implementation of the project plan, change control functions, guaranteeing communication of exact and objective performance information during project life routine (or stage), and project failure recovery mechanisms where necessary.

The concept of triple constraint is very critical to the successful conclusion or execution of your project. For the project manager to successfully implement a project, by controlling triple constraint, the project manager must be able to balance these constraints [goals] - opportunity, time, and cost. Since [most] assignments entail changes and balance between these fighting goals - range, time, and cost - it is very critical for job managers to own strong coping skills. Another essential aspect in project is quality. Since customers' satisfaction invariably depends on the quality criteria of something, hence, it is very important to the project supervisor to consider quality as an added element to the components of the triple constraints - range, time, and cost - when embarking on a project. An effective project administrator must all together and effectively deal with these four basic interrelated elements -opportunity, time, cost and quality - knowing that quality can be an inseparable part in preparing the opportunity, time and cost of a job.

In order for just about any project to handle all the responsibilities necessary to complete the task successfully, the job scope management, which is a critical part of task management, must include operations - range planning, WBS creation, scope definition, range control and range verification - required to address and attain such duties. Since one of the key reasons why project are unsuccessful is scope management, it is, therefore, very important to a project range management to truly have a clear statement, displaying project requirements; scope change management, and individual involvement.

Because most [information] tasks do not meet their project time estimations, manage and keep track of the way job activities (or jobs) are scheduled in order to meet task expectations. Project time management is a crucial aspect of project management which involves procedures - activity description, activity learning resource estimating, activity duration estimating, activity sequencing, routine development, and program control - which are critical to the management of jobs in order to meet job schedule, which in turn guarantees a task would stay within the job budget.

Cost management is another important and inseparable part of task management. Because cost management is to the effective cost management, job managers must take responsibility of focusing on how basic cost ideas, cost control, budgeting and cost estimation are critical to an effective execution of any project (or project stage).

Because the quality of a task invariably affects stakeholders' satisfaction, it's very critical that task quality management, which involves quality guarantee, quality control, and quality planning, is considered very seriously. However, in keeping quality standard that would fulfill stakeholders' needs, that task must comply with specified job requirements, and ensuring items (deliverables) that meet such project requirements are supplied. With quality control and planning, specific task results are watched to ensure that such results conforms to quality benchmarks, and quality requirements pertaining to the task are recognized and satisfied.

Since people are the most valuable property in any task, it is very important that these property [people] that get excited about a job are properly managed. Human learning resource management, which embraces all stakeholders, is an essential part of job management since it directly impacts how these resources [people] perform to realize project targets. When resources are well managed, project responsibilities, jobs, and interactions are discovered; the personnel had a need to work on confirmed project are given to the task; individuals and groups are trained on project management skills to improve task performance; and task team members' performance is tracked, and issues and issues are resolved.

The importance of communication can't be undermined when controlling projects. Communication is the system which any project runs. The inability or success of an project will depend on the way all key elements of a project communicate information about this project to each other. With effective job management, that involves information syndication, stakeholder management, communication planning, and performance record, a project administrator can manage the associates and converse well with other important elements in a task. Also, with effective communication [program] management, whereby studies and status posts, changes, and other task issues, which could affect the execution of any project are communicated to the correct personnel regularly, project targets (or goals) would be performed. However, project managers and associates must understand the importance of creating a good working romantic relationship as job information is communicated. Since the volume of communication channels increase with upsurge in number of folks that require to communicate, it is very critical that job managers must create a good communication and conflict management skills.

Like communication, resource, scope, time, cost, risk management is very critical to a successful execution of an task. Since risk management is an activity in which what may impact a job negatively or favorably, it is important that the project director has appropriate risk plan in place. With the chance plan, approaches and strategies for risk management activities for a particular project are made the decision. The processes involved in risk management are risk monitoring and control, risk identification, risk management planning, quantitative risk examination, and qualitative risk examination.

Procurement, which is the aspects of project management that involves obtaining goods and services from external source or company, includes techniques - planning buys and acquisitions, asking for sellers' responses, planning contracting, go for sellers, administering contracts, and closing contracts - that are extremely important to the fitness of any task. Plan acquisitions and acquisitions requires an activity whereby items to acquire for a job and when needed is set.

In planning purchases and acquisition, the job manager should be involved since the task manager is virtually familiar with what would be needed for the project.

However, in requesting seller responses, set of vendors to consider are diagnosed, and information about their capacities and prices through supplier proposals and price insurance quotes are received. The list is further narrowed down to a set of companies that meet certain requirements.

Plan contracting is another process which involves creating products and services requirements. The products and services are those that are needed for a job execution. The firms or suppliers that would supply these product and services must be identified.

Select owner is the procedure which involves choosing owner that fulfills the criteria established by the company for a particular project. The chosen merchant would supply the service or product that's needed is for the job.

Contract administration is the process that involves managing the relationship with the contracted company. The task manager must work with the vendor, writing and administering the contract, bearing in mind the legal consequences that could happen he does not understand the contract.

Contract closure is the procedure which involves the completion and settlement of all contracts that been around during the task life circuit. The project manager and task team will be engaged to guarantee the completion of the contracted work and gather lesson learned during the procurement process.

As an IT professional, project management is very crucial for IT task execution or completion. The lesson discovered from this category is one which would be employed in my own future work environment. Planning a project is not for a project manager alone. You will find associates, like me, that would be involved in tasks that could require me showing what I've learned during the period of this class. I will be able to contribute to the success of any job for which I would personally be a project team member. Knowing the job knowledge areas and process organizations; applying the many task inputs, and adhering to the professional moral code of do, would promise a litigation-free and successful project execution.
