Malcolm X was born Malcolm Little in May 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska, USA. His dad Earl Little was a Baptist instructor who was simply very outspoken on the 'Back to Africa' movements. This is a movements of Black color Nationalist leader Marcus Garvey. Malcolm's daddy was murdered in 1937 by white terrorist because of his politics and public outspokenness. The death of Earl Little experienced a severely negative influence on Malcolm's childhood and the entire Little family. Malcolm's mother went mad under the weight of wanting to bring up eight children together in extreme poverty. His family was broken up and Malcolm went to live in a group foster home. In 1941, he visited live along with his 50 percent sister in Boston. There he soon inserted the fringes of the underworld and at the age of 17, he migrated to Harlem where he considered a life of criminal offenses, including drug dealing and equipped robbery. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison for armed robbery at age 20.
In prison, Malcolm found an interest in the country of Islam, a Black Nationalist religious movements whose participants are known as the Dark Muslim. He became and introduction follower of the leader of the Nation of Islam; Elijah Muhammad who was simply a strong advocate of the Dark Independent state. His teachings were founded on traditional Islamic teachings, Black colored Nationalism as taught by Marcus Garvey and self help programmes that catered for the need of BLACK moving into poverty. The nation of Islam announced that the whites were bad naturally and expected that soon a great war would take place and everything the whites would be ruined and dark-colored people would rule the earth. In preparation for this new world, the country of Islam stressed personal do it yourself restraint from drugs and alcohol, and organized economical self applied help enterprises. The country of Islam recruited among the list of poorest of metropolitan blacks and in prison that was were Malcolm Little converted to the Islamic beliefs and joined the country of Islam.
Malcolm X became a minster and a recruiter for the country of Islam and was appointed chief minster by Elijah Muhammad in 1954. Within five many years of joining the country of Islam, Malcolm X acquired turn into a more prominent spokes person for the Nation of Islam than Elijah Muhammad.
Malcolm X was a simple figure in his generation preventing against white supremacy up against the blacks in the us. He presumed that the traditional western societies were racist naturally which African People in america should build their own societies and value systems. His course in life was from oppression and victimization to rebellion and cutting edge independence. His quest was from resistance to the best radicalism. It was a journey from which he ultimately accumulated politics and historical insight which, combined with his tools of persuasion and skills at leadership, made him at the time of his death arguably the most dangerous amount in America's background to confront its ruling class.
LEADERSHIP AND ITS OWN THEORIES
Leadership is about dealing with change. Leaders set up a course of action; develop a eyesight of the future and align the enthusiasts by connecting that vision and inspiring these to overcome hurdles. Authority can be reported to be inspiring people to achieving a couple of goal or eyesight.
Great leaders will always be associated with certain characteristic and features which distinguish them from enthusiasts. The characteristic theory attempts to recognize the characteristics that distinguish market leaders from followers by focusing on their personal qualities and characteristics. Such characteristics include charisma or charm, ambition, drive, courage between others. These traits and characteristics have been associated with great leaders from time in history. T
Using the Big Five personality theory, the qualities of ambition and energy in leaders are part of extroversion which includes been identified as the main characteristic of effective market leaders. However extroversion has been discovered as related highly to leadership introduction rather than management effectiveness. Conscientiousness and openness to see also are firmly correlated to command however much less strong as extroversion. Agreeableness and emotional balance on the other hands were not so strongly correlated with management. The Characteristic Theory suggest that leaders who like being around people and are able to assert themselves, who are disciplined and keep their commitments made, who are creative and adaptable are in a much better position to be good and effective leaders. Another trait that effective market leaders have according to this theory is mental cleverness. At the central of emotional cleverness is empathy. Empathic leaders can sense others needs, pay attention to their followers and show empathy with their plight.
Malcolm X we've seen and seen that he had basic education because of his race and he was a convicted criminal. However, this didn't affect his level of performance as a innovator. He could change from a criminal to a spokes man for his people. He exhibited extroversion, conscientiousness, emotional brains (empathy) towards to the people and the vision of the group.
Upon joining the Nation of Islam, Malcolm X wasn't the most active or longest serving member, he wasn't even high up in the hierarchy of things; however, he recognized and showed himself as a leader through his willpower, commitment, interest as a follower and his ability to assert himself on the followers of the vision of a Black color Nation. We were holding the qualities which were discovered by Elijah Mohammed that resulted in the selection of Malcolm X as Key Minister for the Nation of Islam.
There were two propositions made by the Ohio Talk about Studies on management behaviour that they tagged initiating composition and consideration.
Initiating framework includes behaviours that try to coordinate work, work relations and goals, providing framework in the organisation. It involves project of responsibilities to members of the group and expects a certain degree of performance from supporters.
Consideration has to do with having job relations characterized by mutual trust, value for followers thoughts. A leader with high consideration is friendly, approachable and concerned with his follower's personal problems.
In the life span of Malcolm X there have been characteristics of any leader saturated in initiating structure in his company of the fellow members, assigning activity to them in their conduct of meetings and mobilization of new members for the country of Islam. He also confirmed high degrees of factor as he commanded a whole lot of value from people as he was friendly and approachable and had genuine concern for their well being as exemplified in the case of an associate being brutalized by the police. Malcolm X mobilized fellow people of the group to the police train station and facilitated the release of the member and guaranteed that he received health care. This personal sacrificial behaviour and concern for the supporters attributes to his effectiveness in authority.
Leaders who've certain features and display account and initiate structuring behaviours appear to be far better.
Malcolm X could find a balance between getting the job done and looking after the welfare of the users of the Nation of Islam. That is known as transformational management. The essence of Transformational Control Theory is the change of the behaviour, motivations and the behaviours of enthusiasts. Transformational leadership attempts to improve the consciousness of enthusiasts by attractive to their home interest, moral principles, mobilizing them to reform the establishment they end up and in exchange provide benefits for the individuals by caring for their welfare. Such was the circumstance of Malcolm X and the country of Islam with the African People in america that were oppressed in United States. Malcolm X was inspirational and visionary, he was intellectually stimulating, he offered attention, admiration and responsibility to his supporters.
However transformational leadership theory alone can't be used to explain the leadership style of Malcolm X, an additional theory that can be used is the Charismatic Management theory. This is often considered a sibling of transformational management or as a component of transformational control. This sort of leadership is most effective into political leadership
This Management theory is based on the understanding of the supporters that the first choice can be an exceptional human being. The followers inclined to obey their leader, in some instances they idolize their leader and are highly emotionally included to the objective of the group. However based on Personal concept theory, the above are not a required condition for Charismatic Leadership
Charismatic leadership creates increased self esteem and self value for the first choice, increased self efficiency and collective efficacy of the complete group, id with the leader and the complete group and the internalization of the principles of the first choice. Charismatic leadership depends upon the complete situation surrounding the leader, the leader's id, behavior, the culture, the follower's personal information and the groups all entwined.
Charisma is likely attributed to leaders which have a eyesight that is highly questionable but for the supreme good thing about the fans. These market leaders must act in unconventional ways in order to make an impression the followers. This might include risking their lives for the course and eye-sight they may have for folks. Charismatic leadership can be used to describe Malcolm X style of management because he openly challenged the ruling school and spoke in a manner that was considered a hazard to the American population. Malcolm X was self sacrificing and wasn't encouraged by financial prize but the eyesight of the Nation of Islam which was why his fans trusted him because he was committed to the reason.
This leadership style of Malcolm X was inspired by his perceived leader Elijah Mohammed who was simply a very charismatic innovator. Malcolm X come across with Mohammed was such a transformation in his life that he was prepared to lay out his life for Mohammed. He was ready to do whatever Mohammed would ask of him. Malcolm X idolized Mohammed & most likely copied his leadership style as he saw Mohammed as a man directed from 'Allah'. This is because Mohammed exuded such strong convictions and self-confidence about his eye-sight for the Nation of Islam and his values that there is a deliverance coming to the people. The compliment and reputation received by Malcolm X and his rise to fame when you are appointed chief minster by Muhammad further developed his self confidence and a deeper obligation to reaching the place standard by Mohammed. Malcolm X was also affected by him internalizing the new perception of the country of Islam by adopting the opinion of Mohammed and his eyesight.
Another effect on the transformational/charismatic command design of Malcolm X was his environment. In his time America was at an emergency; the blacks were in an emergency, having suffered from racism, oppression and victimization from the ruling school. The African Americans were looking for a leader to give them anticipation of an improved tomorrow and Malcolm X so long as hope. This situation of crisis was an impact in the authority design of Malcolm X.
Comparing and contrasting the control varieties of Malcolm X and Western world Indian Archie who created Malcolm X to the world of taking in, drugs and armed robbery. Archie acquired a transactional command style, where the leader rewards the follower for performance. Such was the relationship between Archie and Malcolm X. This form of management is non inspirational, non motivation and commitment and level of trust is low and sometimes non-existent as observed in the movie.
Also assessing Malcolm X authority style and that of Baines, Malcolm X was a more of a transformational /Charismatic leader while Baines was more of a transactional innovator, where the innovator offers rewards for compliance and performance. Transactional management style motivates fans by attractive to the fans self interest and exchange of benefits. This sort of leadership is essential but not sufficient for the entire performance of the group. Unlike transformational authority, transactional leadership isn't concerned about the welfare of the supporters or their emotion or their needs but rather on getting the work done. In this form of management, followers are only rewarded based on their actions, behaviours and compliance with the goals of the first choice. As a result the followers aren't very focused on the leader and also have a lower level of trust with the kind of head than the transformational /Charismatic innovator.
The difference in command style as well as beliefs and prospects of Malcolm X and Baines might have resulted in the turmoil that arose between Malcolm X and the leaders of the Nation of Islam. The issue of interest that arose due to the other leaders enriching themselves at the expense of the perspective and the enthusiasts was a significant turn in the life of Malcolm X as well as the rumours of Muhammad's extramarital affairs with young secretaries. Such activities were up against the teachings of the Nation. Although at first Malcolm X dismissed the rumours, but the women started out making their accusations general public which was potentially damaging to the country of Islam. After several denials, Muhammad later proved the rumours and tried out to justify his activities by discussing precedents by Biblical prophets. This was a significant betrayal for Malcolm X.
FOLLOWERS RELATIONSHIP WITH LEADERSHIP
Upon release from jail, Malcolm X became a follower, a follower of Elijah Mohammed, a follower of the country of Islam. He played out a passive role in this leadership followership marriage as well as when he was peddling drugs on the pavements of Harlem with West Indian Archie, he was a receiver of command from Western world Indian Archie This role the follower takes on can be described as 'enthusiasts as recipients of management'. That is essentially a linear marriage between the head and fans. After he was chosen as the principle minister for the nation of Islam, Malcolm x was still a follower of Mohammed, however he had advanced from a follower as a recipient of authority to being truly a moderator of control.
This is based on the problem theory and depends on the amount of maturity and needs of the follower between other factors. The first choice goes from the showing style to the selling style, the participatory style then finally to the delegating style. Malcolm X exhibited higher level of maturity, determination and had an established relationship with Mohammed which made him a moderator of leadership
Followers as moderators of management suggests that though fans see themselves as unaggressive in the partnership but the effect the leader has maybe moderated by the amount of maturity, capacity and motivation of the follower. The leader must take on an active role in the leadership process. You can find aspects of fans that market leaders need to take into consideration when leading these are: the supporters initial frame of mind towards the first choice, the followers acceptance of the leader, the followers need for emotional support and the fans knowledge and congruence of the values recover of the first choice.
After becoming the principle spokes person for the effect Mohammed had over Malcolm X -his follower was neutralize and therefore the task focused or relationship focused activities made no difference to the frame of mind and behaviour of Malcolm X.
Followers as replacement for leadership originates from the substitutes for authority theory, which argues that under some circumstances, the affect that a leader exacts over his follower may be substituted or neutralized. In the case of substitution, the actions of the leader are not necessary. However this involves the followers to be highly wise and incredibly experienced hence might not have need for a leader as was with Malcolm X. The replacement theory deemphasizes the importance of the first choice.
Followers are also seen as constructors of command because if indeed they do not identify it as command then it isn't leadership. You will discover three theories that identify the structure process. These are the relationship of management theory; where the identity and effect of the leader depends on the manner in which their followers perceive them, psychoanalytic ideas; which recognizes that command is affected by the style of leadership exhibited by parents professors and other parents in the maturation process from child to adulthood regarding Malcolm X the affect of his father as a human being right advocate to his style of leadership, the interpersonal individuality theory proposes the amount to which a leader is picked by an organization will rely upon how representative he/she is to that group.
CONCLUSION
In realization, Malcolm X was a great person because of his credibility and sacrifice. He was a change and charismatic leader that influenced thousands in his generation and years after to operate for their privileges and values and independence. His words and activities are still celebrated in America even today.
