Literary Criticism 1 (Storyline)
In "The Dowry", Guy de Maupassant uses the climax to make this story interesting. Is it the climax is interesting? So, based on our reading, the climax makes people who read this story will continue read before end. "At the top! There hasn't been anybody there for a long period" (pg 4, brand 23) will makes people shocked during read this storyline. A lot of questions will are thinking about. Why Maitre Lebrument remaining his wife? Does he forget about his wife? What will happen to Jeanne? All the questions make we can not wait to learn the ending of this story. We want to know what happened actually. So, we think that the climax is interesting. It could make our feelings change suddenly. Especially when the conductor said, "A major portfolio! Oh, yes! He received off at the Madeleine. He eliminated you, fine! Ha! Ha! Ha!" (pg 5, collection 6). This part makes our heart and soul is better than so fast. Why? Why? Why? This questions have always inside our brain. Then, we begins making an assumptions. In positive thinking, maybe Maitre Lebrument have disaster that produce him needed to leave his better half. In negative thinking, maybe Maitre Lebrument are compelled to committed with Jeanne. Maybe he does not love Jeanne and already have girl that he really is in love with.
But, think about the ending of the story. Is it interesting? Could it be makes people who read this account satisfied? We do not think so. The ending is bored. It makes our emotions fall down. When we read the climax, we become so excited, however when we browse the stopping, we will said, "That's it only? How about Maitre Lebrument?" The finishing does not answer the questions when we read the climax. It only explains to about Jeanne who was very unhappy and disappointed when she recognizes that her partner is villain. "And, faint from enjoyment, she learned her head on her cousin's make and wept" (pg 6, range 19). It does not says us about Maitre Lebrument. What occurred to him when he remaining his partner? Maybe, the writer should extend just a little the ending of this story. Maybe, Maitre Lebrument also has been cheated by the person who sell the practice to him. This will likely show the reciprocation to him for the bad things that he will to his better half. So, people who read this storyline will more satisfied with this concluding eventhough it is cliche but it is want by people.
Literary Criticism 2 (Personality)
In this brief story, we wish to criticize a few of the main heroes who is Maitre Simon Lebrument (partner). According to the motto of his life "Everything Come to him who waits" could express her frame of mind which he'll do anything for pleasure in his life; he did not emphasize the beliefs needed in life as a husband and wife, despite having his wife. Being a husband and wife, must have the spirit of love and love among one another. We also think that her husband is a cruel who was eager to exploit the partner for her pleasure and solve the issues faced by it. Supposed occurrence of your marriage predicated on love is not as an evil agenda. At the start of their matrimony her husband has not shown the good attitude as her partner to his better half where the wife should expect from a hubby. How will be the bad partner who organized the honeymoon along with his where it is a lovely imagine a married couple, but it became something bad and sadness for Jeanne Cordier Modemoiselle which abandoned on the bus by itself by her hubby.
Maitre Simon is unproductive spouse because she dared to leave her unattended and choose "The Dowry" 300 thousand France. He calls for advantage of the softness and weakness Modemoiselle Jeanne Cordier who've never protested and complained about her husband's behaviours bothered. For me he's a coward and a hubby should not be eligible to turn into a husband who must have been the role of any husband is to safeguard his wife, however, not for exploit it. He's no humanitarian aspect in himself, his life were to him only, not for anybody else. He is very greedy and selfish people without considering other people who always considers of himself and love himself.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the story telling about an honest partner was cheated by her own partner. At the start, she did not realized her hubby have another purpose in their wedded. After all the things occurred, she know that her man not genuine in their relationship because that man only want her money. The moral of the story is, do not thought other person fully although they're very near to you.
