In the storyline Evening by Elie Wiesel as well as the Pearl by John Steinback, I am explaining, action, reasons, and the consequences of misuse of power in an extreme or unreasonable way. In Evening I am talking about Elieze and his father the misuse of ability they experienced. In The Pearl I am talking about Kino, and his family, the misuse they received by another person having the ability.
In The Pearl Kino and Juana are also experiencing abuse of power. "Have you money to pay for the treatment. " (pg. 11) this is actually the abuse uneducated, the indegent, like Kino and Juana go through, for devoid of enough money to pay the doctor. Coyotito, Kino's son was stung with a scorpion and may not be attended by a doctor, because his parents cannot afford to pay. "The doctor has gone out", he said. "He was called to a serious circumstance. " He shut the gate quickly away of pity. " (pg. 12) the doctor abuses his ability by assisting only the customers with money, and placing aside the poor like Kino, Juana and Coyotito.
Moishe the Beadle, was scared that no person would believe that the massacre he experienced, as as it happens Moishe was right and no person believed him. However now a man called Elieze along with his family is exceptional abuse of vitality by the Germans and the Hungarian authorities. "We no more had the to consistent restaurants or cafes, to visit by train, to wait synagogue, to be on the pavements after six o' clock at night. "Then emerged the ghettos. " (pg. 11) Elieze and his family are actually prisoners in their own home, needing to live by others guidelines. Sighet was divided into two ghettos, and every home was well viewed and every screen facing the road had to be closed. Elieze and his family are actually worried after learning that, they will used in a undiscovered place. "The ghetto was to be liquidated completely; departures were to take place, street by road, starting the next day. " (pg. 13) The Germans are abusing their ability and making every person in Sighet fear for their lives, being unsure of where they will be taken. "That was asecret, a key for many, except one: the leader of the Jewish council. But he'd not inform, or could not inform. The Gestapo had threatened to shoot him if he spoken. " (pg. 13) everyone is waiting to determine what will happen, and what awaits them, after being imprisoned in their own homes unjustly by the Germans.
Kino and Juana go fishing 1 day for oysters. Kino dives into this particular and starts to take oysters from the hummock where they live. After starting all the oysters Kino starts the biggest one of all and finds a major shinny pearl inside. Media of Kino's finding journeys quickly in to the ears of the doctors. "He is a client of mine, the doctors said; I am treating his child for a scorpion sting. " (pg. 22) Now that the doctor recognizes Kino has money to cover Coyotitoґs scorpion sting. The doctor decides that he will get rid of Coyotito, because Kino is now able to afford to pay him. The physician is taken advantage of his electric power. The pearl was an indicator of bad from the first time Kino found it. "And instantly he was reluctant of his communicating; his hand closed down above the pearl and cut the light from it. Kino was scared as a guy is reluctant who says, I will without knowing. " (pg. 26) the pearl as Kino and Juana begin to notice is only problems for them. One nighttime after someone breaks into Juana's and Kino's home, Juana begs Kino to throw the pearl away. "Throw it away; Kino why don't we break it between stones. Why don't we bury it and forget the place. Let us throw it back to the ocean. It has taken evil. Kino, my husband, it will destroy us. " (pg. 38) Juana just desires to reside in peace the way they lived before finding the pearl. Finally Kino and Juana take the pearl to sell it because they know people will attempt to take good thing about them. They can be followed by the complete town, "Now the traders glanced quickly at each other, they knew that they had played too hard, they knew they might be disciplined for his or her inability. " (pg. 52) the dealers try to take benefit of Kino's knowledge; they think they can persuade him the pearl is not worth anything. Kino is aware of their wicked intensions so he decides never to sell the pearl for the fifteen hundred pesos they offeredhim.
"The time has come you must leave all this, Hungarian law enforcement used their rifle butts, their clubs to indiscriminately affect old men and women, children and cripples. " (pg16) As soon as they have been looking forward to has finally come. They are simply brutally having out with their homes by the Hungarian authorities and the Germans, the individuals are sacred, nor understand the reason for the authorities brutality. "All the Jews, outside be quick" (pg16) the residents, are being lined up outside the street, so the police force can take spin call They may be forced to stand outdoors in the hot sunshine with no normal water. "The heat was oppressive, sweat steamed from people's encounters and body children were crying for normal water. " (pg16) Everyone must wait around in the hot sunlight for hours. Cruel and brutally is how the Germans are dealing with these poor people, not having the ability to operate t o a higher electric power, the Germans are abusing their electricity on innocent people. "Oh God Expert of the World, in your infinite compassion have mercy on us. " (pg20) Elieze after viewing his father cry for the very first time in his life realizes this is not a game it is not a fantasy; all Elieze can do now is pray for all your injustice, pray and desire that this is just a huge misunderstanding. Elieze cannot consider what they are being put through. We walked towards the place, where we were going to be studied by the Gestapo. After an extended ride the train had finally come to an end. "In the air, the smell of getting rid of flesh, it must have been around midnight, we had arrived in Birkenau. " (pg28) The SS man came forward striking and telling everyone to leave all the things behind in the wagon. Their only things of value that they had brought along had to be left behind "Men left, women to the right. " (pg29) This was the harsh actuality, as soon as when Elieze had been segregated from his family, not knowing whether this is going to be the last time they would ever see one another. Elieze was frightened and didn't want to separate from his family.
The risks continue for Kino and his family, the pearl has now turn into a real problem. Kino was attacked outside his own home by some stranger; Kino experienced no choice but to take a life to protect his family, getting rid of a man because of this Kino were required to leave his city. Kino would be sought by these men and made a decision to leave "It piece through neck and deep in to the breasts, and Kino was an awful machine now. "(pg86) This is what Kino has been influenced to do, after being chased all over the place by some trackers aiming to take his pearl and eliminate his family, Kino experienced no choice operating out of places to cover Kino was required to destroy again. "Kino had become as frigid and dangerous as steal. "(pg87) After being pushed to the limit, Kino finally got tired and got to push back. Kino was sick and tired of running, being scared, and treated such as a dog. Worst of all Coyotito was taken, and wiped out by one of the trackers, creating Kino to lose his temper and go crazy. Kino killed the tracker with the rifle and with the same rifle Kino wiped out the other two trackers.
"Sons of bitches, why have you come here?" (pg30) The seek out the truth is finally over, following a SS officer instructs Elieze and all of those other prisoners, why they have been brought to the attention camp, and the terrible things that await them. "You'll be burned! Without compaction, you will be used up to cinder! Converted into ashes!" (pg34) Elieze is stunned, and petrified at the news of being burnt alive, how can the Germans be so cruel and frosty hearted to just destroy people for no reason, this is all an awful headache for Elieze and the prisoners. "A vehicle drew close and unloaded its hold, small children, Babies! Yes I did see this, with my own eyes. "(pg32) Elieze cannot believe his eyes, how can something so amazing to trust be happening, and why doesn't anybody do something positive about this terrible nightmare. Why doesn't the globe find out about this terrible place, that is getting rid of human being, and little defenseless children alive? "If that is true, then I don't want to hold back, ill come across the electrified barbed cable. That might be easier that sluggish loss of life in the open fire. " (pg33) Elieze is currently panicking and thinking about a better death, than to be burnt alive. If he's going to die then he desires to acquire control over his own fatality.
Now Elieze and his dad are prisoners having to work and wait for their utilize be thrown into the crematorium, and become burned alive. Because they address the flames, they can be ordered to return to the barracks and hold out to be used in another camp site. "We had arrived in Buchenwald. "(pg103) Elieze 's dad at this point cannot go on any further; he is tired, ill, and vulnerable from all the beatings and cruelty the prisoners have been adding him through. " (pg107) The guards didn't feed Elieze's daddy because he is about to pass away, for the guards Elieze's dad is just another body to throw away, they are just waiting for him to perish so they can be rid of him. "His previous word had been my name. "(pg112) Elieze's daddy could not fight any longer, after having a strong fever, he previously began to hallucinate he could no longer continue dying on January 29. "The resistance movement decided at that time to do something. "(pg115) Americans have penetrated in to the camp and caused the SS to flee, and leave the prisoners behind. "At six o'clock that evening, the first American tank stood at the gates of Buchenwald. "(pg115) the problem was over, exactly like that Elieze was a free of charge man, he and the prisoners had been rescued from death. Not attempting to commemorate all Elieze wanted to do is eat some breads, he was dying of appetite and just how he wished to celibate was by eating. "Through the depths of the reflection, a corps was contemplating me; the appearance in his sight as he gazed at me never still left me. "(pg115) after so long of not eating right and being over worked such as a slave, Elieze for the very first time and could not believe that it was him.
In bottom line life is sudden, and uncertain. The message The Pearl and Night time give us is never to quit, to always keep struggling in what we imagine. To stand up for our selves, and if possible to not allow others to control or take advantage over us. If we fall, to get up again never to allow miner speed bumps to slow us down. Deal with for our right, our equality, & most importantly our freedom. Both of these amazing tales show us how daring and exactly how much a human being can withstand, under regular beatings and such cruelty by other human beings. This is a reminder to enjoy our life to the fullest, because any day our life, our fortune can transform so enjoy a what we have and be pleased.
